Challenges

  • Media files from Locomotive were often delayed to get transmitted to central location. Heavy manual process had a huge impact on timely completion.
  • Government/statutory didn’t receive the files on time. 
  • Existing system didn’t have proper user experience due to lack of self-service features.

  • Unable to operate in online and offline mode as locomotives are always on the move.

  • Solution design was developed with Hub & Spoke model leveraging Azure IoT Edge/Hub 
  • Simplification through Edge Runtime / Custom SOPs 
  • Optimal usage of Edge Offline and Customer Retry features 
  • Data Filtering at Edge by sending only potential incidences to Hub to avoid unnecessary data getting transferred. This helped to reduce storage costs and improved performance significantly.
